A TAXONOMIC REVISION OF THE GENUS MICROVELIA WESTWOOD (HETEROPTERA: VELIIDAE) OF NORTH AMERICA INCLUDING MEXICO.

The genus Microvelia of North America including Mexico is revised. Two new species are described, M. oxynota from Sonora, Mexico and M. gibbera from Puebla, Mexico. The alate form of M. pueblana is also described. Four new synonyms are proposed, M. irrasa Drake and Harris, and M. pexa Drake and Hussey = M. torquata Champion; M. cinchonana Drake and Hussey = M. torquata Champion; M. cerifera McKinstry = M. fontinalis Torre-Bueno. Keys to the species and discussions of the species groups are presented. All species are redescribed. Figures, mostly from type-specimens, micrographs of genital capsules, distribution maps, and detailed distribution data are also presented.;The known biology and morphology of the genus is reviewed.
