The purpose of this study sought to understand, from the perspectives of those women who have successfully made it beyond the glass ceiling to executive status, at what mental position in the Responsibility Process do they operate as it related to owning their power and ability to create, choose, or attract whether they mentored other women. In addition, this study sought to reconfirm the benefits of mentoring to the advancement of women as a result of an established mentorship. This study explored a descriptive, qualitative design that used phenomenological in person interviewing techniques as the primary method of data collection. The thoughts, perceptions, and experiences of the participants were crucial to the conclusions and findings of the study. The outcome of the study led to a redefinition of the responsibility to mentor. The study concluded with recommendations for further research into mentoring and responsibility.
