Probe measurement and flow visualization techniques are used to analyze coherent structures in turbulent flow. However, a universally acceptable mathematical model or description is not yet available to quantitatively describe the flow systems. An experimental method is proposed to bridge the gap between the measurement and observation techniques.;The results showed that it was possible to uniquely identify the tracer particles from the stereoscopic views in terms of position, color, size and average intensity.;A simple flow system was set-up and calibrated for flow visualization in stereoscopic view using color tracer particles as flow markers. The resulting films were digitized in full color and at high resolution (2048 x 2048 pixels). Techniques and procedures were developed for image digitization, compression and recreation of the image on color graphics terminals. The digital intensity values were analyzed to obtain the position and color of the particles in space. From these particle parameters the images were reconstructed in false color.
