This study fills the void in previous job satisfaction studies on similar populations by focusing only on those faculty who are identified as full-time and primarily involved with the preparation of industrial arts/technology teachers through instruction in professional courses, advising, and/or supervising student teachers.;Problem. This study answered this question: What relationships exist between selected job satisfier factors, selected job dissatisfier factors, the satisfaction with current local and national trends concerning industrial arts/technology education, and selected demographic variables; and the job satisfaction of industrial arts/technology teacher educators? Additionally, this study was designed to test Herzberg's dual factor theory of job satisfaction.;Procedures. An instrument based on Herzberg's dual continuum theory was developed and sent to all teacher educators (778) who were identified through an initial inquiry of the 199 institutions listed in the 1984-1985 Industrial Teacher Education Directory offering degrees leading to teacher certification. 558 usable surveys were returned, representing 72% of the population.;Results. Industrial arts/technology teacher educators are predominantly white (90.7%), male (97.3%), and average 47 years of age. They work in state supported universities (75.2%) located in rural communities with enrollments of under 9000 students (47.6%). Extensive other demographic data are reported.;Of the professors (full, 37.9%, associate, 30.2%, assistant, 24.8%), 68.4% have earned doctorates and 75.8% are tenured. Respondents averaged 16.9 years in teacher education with 61% having three or more years of primary or secondary school teaching experience. Over 50% had 20 years or more of teacher education experience at the collegiate level. Thirty-four percent teach between 15 and 18 class contact hours per week with primary responsibilities in laboratory and professional courses (39%). Nineteen percent teach only laboratory classes.;Over 84% of industrial arts/technology teacher educators had scores indicating some degree of satisfaction, the mode being in the slightly satisfied range (45.9%); 35% had scores in the moderately satisfied range, and 15% in the very satisfied range. These data suggest a lesser degree of job satisfaction than similar studies. Demographic variables do not correlate highly with overall job satisfaction except academic rank, tenure status, and inclass contact hours. Industrial arts/technology teacher educators (84%) are moderately to very satisfied with the leadership provided by the International Technology Education Association.;This study only mildly supports Herzberg's theories of job satisfaction.
