A kriging based on the model reference technique in control theory is developed. An adjustable model, that is, a polynomial with orthogonal basis function is used as a global drift function. The number of the basis function, the location of nodes, and the coefficient of the drift function are modified in each iterative regression process. The covariance of the residual is computed by using a new algorithm based on the estimation of the second moment without assuming isotropic properties in the residual. The new kriging method is applied to a two-dimensional contamination problem with a point contaminating source. The result shows that the detail is established near the contaminating source.
