An analysis of potential contributory factors of drug rehabilitation.

With the rise of crime within the United States in the early 21st century, legislation was demanded and then introduced by way of the Three Strikes Law to address habitual offending. Designed specifically to incapacitate individuals who have demonstrated a penchant for disregarding societal laws, this was enacted as a punitive measure via incarceration. While some lawmakers would consider the high rate of long-term commitment a success, there are some dissenters among the ranks of legislature and justices. Some lawmakers hold that the Eighth amendment barring cruel and unusual punishment does not circumvent excessive uses of permissible punishment that opened up the door for Proposition 36 to sentence, not on a blanket of lawlessness, but demand the legal system differentiate its offenders within sentencing. More lenient sentencing demanded the integration of alternatives for drug offenders, specifically, drug rehabilitation. Traditional therapeutic models such as the 12-step programs, while well-meaning, have the potential to disregard intricate psychological, physiological, and behavioral factors associated construct a degree of difficulty in the treatment of methamphetamine usage. As a result, empirical evidence has begun to become augmented to be competently able to treat these individuals. This study evaluates components that may or may not contribute to successful completion of clinical drug rehabilitation, more specifically; age, marital status, forensic status, and presence of traumatic brain injury.
