The computer program PDESOLV was developed and written in FORTRAN to solve systems of partial differential equations that arise in modeling carrier-facilitated diffusion. The method of orthogonal collocation with B-splines was implemented to solve second order two-point boundary value problems. PDESOLV and its associated subroutines were then used to numerically validate previously published models of oxygen diffusion in the capillaries of the human body, and to test the sensitivity of these models to initial conditions and knot placement.;PDESOLV was also applied to the very stiff Burgers' equation, and yielded numerical results very close to those of the known analytical solution.
