Molestation: As seen in the media.

摘要

This paper is about the representation of sex crimes in the mainstream media of television, radio, newspapers, magazines, and the Internet in the United States. It is about the nature of the stories reported by the media, the messages they convey, the effects of these on the audience, and the social feedback on sexual offending in American society. It is about the multi-layered interconnection between the impacts, pressures, expectations and benefits that frame the construction of this main cause of fear and anxiety. While the focus is on the narratives of the media in the United States, many of the problems faced are linked to any examination of media discourses in secular capitalist societies.
