The author of this thesis presents an exposition regarding the good faith exception to the exclusionary rule of the Fourth Amendment. The author begins with an examination of the origins and purpose of the Fourth Amendment, and then traces the development of the good faith exception to the exclusionary rule through an examination of relevant cases.;The interpretation and implementation of the good faith exception then is discussed through a review of both federal and state cases. Favorable contentions and criticisms regarding the good faith exception then are presented. The author concludes by speculating as to the future of the good faith exception to the exclusionary rule.
