A study of the licensure and professional practice of landscape architects: A comparison of the attitudes of architects, landscape architects and landscape designers in three states having differing licensure laws.

This study compares the attitudes of architects, landscape architects and landscape designers concerning the licensure and professional practice of landscape architects in three states. The study focuses on states having different licensure laws; Louisiana is governed by a practice act; Texas by a title act; and, Nebraska has both title and practice acts. Data concerning licensure, perceived jurisdiction, professional activities and profiles were gathered by means of a mail survey. There were a total of 93 responses to the questionnaires; 39 architects, 32 landscape architects and 22 landscape designers. In addition, telephone interviews were conducted with individuals responding to the questionnaire.
