First line leadership: An analysis of organizational performance in U.S. Naval squadrons.

This quantitative correlational research study explored the extent of relationships of First Class Petty Officers employing effective problem-solving skills to reduce responsiveness, and increase professional abilities to develop efficient solutions when performing occupational duties. The quantitative analysis of the survey instrument responses indicated no significant statistical differences between work experience and collegiate education from the managerial efficiency dependent variable from 1% of U.S. naval aviation First Class Petty Officers. An ANOVA statistical analysis of Carrier Air Wing FIVE group comparisons revealed a significant difference (F (4,141) = 3.142, p = .016) of the performance dependent variable between 1 out of 5 squadron groups. The findings and recommendations of this study identified a first step to assess areas of improvement of added leadership training and effective evaluation system to extend first line leadership effectiveness in carrier air wing squadrons.
