A study on the person to person evangelism training of laity.

The focus of Jesus' ministry was evangelism, and his last commandment was regarding evangelism. The revival in the Korean church is attributed to her commitment to evangelism. This researcher felt the need to strengthen the ministry of evangelism in his church at Dae-Gu City.;The person to person evangelism method that the researcher presented was a method where an evangelist realizes the importance of a single soul and approaches non-believers to let them accept Jesus Christ as their savior. The purpose of the project was to give training to the laity to make them practicing evangelists.;The project involved selection and training of twelve believers in the person to person evangelism method. A control group of twelve believers was used for comparison purposes. The eight-week training included sixteen hours of lecture and four hours of practical experience. A pre-test and post-test were administered to measure the effectiveness of the training. The teaching method was evaluated using a specially designed questionnaire.;The training was found to be well conducted and very effective. In addition to increasing the evangelistic skills of trainees, the program increased church membership and attendance. The entire congregation became aware of the importance of evangelism.;There are various types of evangelism, but the researcher considered the person to person evangelism method to be one that could be effectively carried out at Sangil Presbyterian Church. Only this method was utilized in this project.;The following recommendations are made for future studies: (1) conduct the training classes in the morning or afternoon rather than in the evening, (2) schedule a time to share testimonies after practical experiences, (3) conduct the training at a classroom type facility rather than the sanctuary, and (4) utilize the services of associate ministers and/or other co-workers to reduce the stress on the researcher.
