This thesis is concerned with the identification of maximum regions of inter-area active power transfer, called Load-Flow Feasibility (LFF) regions, for a three-area power system under both normal and contingency operation conditions, as is illustrated in Figure 0-1. The boundary of the LFF region is composed of turning points of bifurcation branches of load-flow equations, i.e., points of voltage collapse. An effective and efficient method, called regularization, is used to identify the turning points.
