A review of the aluminum recycling industry in the United States.

Recycling has emerged in recent years to be socially acceptable and the politically correct thing to do. Aluminum recycling conserves the raw material from which aluminum is made, the energy required to process the raw material, preserves scarce landfill space and provides jobs.;The conclusions of this study were that the aluminum recycling industry should remain successful and grow due to the high marketability of recycled aluminum, cost savings associated with recycling aluminum, and the growing concern for the environment by consumers in the United States.;The purpose of this study was to investigate the development of the aluminum recycling industry in the United States. An extensive review of the primary and secondary aluminum industries in the United States provided the background necessary for understanding the environmental benefits and cost savings associated with aluminum recycling. Current recycling methods, programs, and California legislation to promote recycling were also investigated.
