Attitude changes of United States sojourners to the Soviet Union-USSR.

This descriptive research study employing a fifty item questionnaire documents an investigation of the attitude changes demonstrated by United States sojourners to the Soviet Union-USSR. The findings are supported by qualitative-quantitative statistical analyses, which indicated the significant degrees of attitude changes resulting from learning via intercultural experiences. The evidence is supported and explicated by the interpretation of the data covering the interrelationships of open-ended sojourner responses to fifty questions coordinated with a five point scale identifying sojourner indicators of attitude changes experienced, with the background variables of gender, age, ethnicity, religion, education, destination in the USSR, number of sojourns, year of sojourn, and knowledge of the Russian Language. These interrelationships are specifically related to five designed research questions addressing the cultural themes of personal, socio-cultural, historical, political and economic environments of the Soviet Union-USSR. The purposeful, convenience sampling of fifty students and professionals was representative of subjects across socio-cultural, age, educational and economic strata.
