Integrated production planning methodology is proposed and utilized in steel manufacturing environment. The planning procedure is formulated as a Linear Programming model. Several operational aspects have been incorporated in this methodology, including raw material sourcing, semi-finished product making and purchasing, capacity allocation, and distribution of finished products along with other materials. An integrated planning framework has been suggested and many benefits can be expected if the methodology is implemented in practice.; Preliminary computational results show that a firm's operation can be enhanced in many aspects if the optimal solution is used. Sensitivity and shadow price analysis presents several insights into the manufacturing dynamics. The performance of this approach has been proven efficient when dealing with different sizes of practical problems.; This thesis study is an attempt using Operations Research technologies in large scale manufacturing system. The intention is to help companies achieve better economical performance based on current conditions in plant and market.
