he study of the mesospheric thermal structure over the Rocky Mountain area at Logan, Utah (41.7 N, 111.8 W) revealed that the winter mesosphere temperature profiles featured large temperature perturbations with magnitude of ;The averaged temporal frequency spectra and the vertical wave number spectrum of the relative atmospheric density for altitude range from 45-70 km showed an averaged slope of ;An airborne study revealed that the variance of wind speed at 6 km altitude along the flight path over the Rocky Mountains was about twice as large as that for a flight over the Canadian Plains. The horizontal wavenumber spectra for both wind speed and vertical wind showed an enhancement in power at all spectral scales for the Mountain flight.
