The members of the Tacuara Nationalist Movement created their own precursors; they universalized the local history of gauchos and caudillos and fused it with the history of European Fascism, of other caudillos such as Franco, Mussolini and Hitler. They in turn universalize this re-enchanted local history and make their Argentine heroes such as General Rosas the precursors of European Fascism. Once "Argentina is found everywhere" they universalize themselves as the redemptors of civilization.;The Tacuara Nationalist Movement's practice of historicizing or enchanting local Argentine historical figures with and within European Fascist figures, as well as their practice of re-enchanting local history as universal history is a presentation of an animated history, a representation of history replete with animism. This dissertation is an attempt to make sense of that "phantastic" history.;However, the dissertation also attempts, not only to look at how groups such as Tacuara position themselves within other eras and subjectivities, but to trace how neo-Fascist conspiracy theories about Jewish plots to invade and annex the Patagonia, the Andinia Plan, are rearticulations of previous narratives of invasion. Furthermore, I search for its precursor namely "The German Plot of 1939," another tale of invasion, and speculate as to the ways in which the Andinia Plan was re-enchanted and portrayed as its own precursor. Lastly, I explore the ways in which Adolf Eichmann was represented in the Argentine media, during the years following his capture (1960) and execution (1962).
