Landscape ecological characterization of the Ray Roberts Lake Study Area, north-central Texas: Temporal variations in landscape pattern, 1987-1992.

The patterns of landscape development in time and space result from complex interactions of physical, biological, and social forces. These patterns affect many ecological phenomena, including ecosystem dynamics and species diversity. Understanding how landscapes respond to these forces has important implications for landscape management.;Assessment of landscape structure and temporal change in landscape pattern within the Ray Roberts Lake Study Area, north-central Texas, were performed on SPOT imagery using both traditional and landscape ecological methodologies. This investigation demonstrates the usefulness of a landscape approach in succession analysis, resource distribution, and identifying areas of concern. Results of this endeavour are presented with recommendations for linkages to ongoing research in the Study Area.
