he potential for opportunistic pathogens has been steadily growing since the 1980's and their prevalence will increase into the next millennium. Legionella is a major opportunistic pathogen in the world today, and is responsible for a group of diseases known as Legionellosis. Cooling towers have been implicated internationally as a source of numerous cases of Legionellosis.;Current methods of prevention are costly, and have not proven effective. A proposal for the regulation of drift loss rates to 0.001% of the circulating water is achievable with drift eliminators using current industry technology.
