Adherence to the American Cancer Society's breast cancer screening guidelines by medical and non-medical personnel: A comparison.

The rates of adherence to the American Cancer Society's breast cancer screening guidelines by two groups of women were studied. Data were collected from 192 adult women who were members of either the medical or teaching profession via a self-administered questionnaire. Frequency distributions and data analysis were performed using the statistical analysis system (SAS) computer software (significance level =.05). Comparisons of screening behavior of the two groups of women revealed that their adherence patterns did not differ significantly. Furthermore, patterns of adherence by both groups were consistent with previously published findings.
