Development of an interactive virtual library tour.

摘要

Internet technologies have significantly changed the way we learn, when people find they can get information from all over the world. With the time spent on the Internet by individual students on campus growing, some researchers believe that the library needs to have an interactive place and role (Bell, Lindbloom, Perers, & Pope, 2008) as well. In this project, an instructor-independent virtual library tour was created for Western Illinois University Leslie F. Malpass Library to provide an advanced interactive experience. User data were collected and analyzed to evaluate the effectiveness of this Flash-based virtual library tour. With its unique interactive feature, the project can serve as a prototype for other virtual library tours.
