Time-domain representations of pulse radiation and reception from various radiator types and geometry's are derived, numerically evaluated, and presented. The time-domain representations which are derived and evaluated in this study are used to model a number of radiating structures, among them: Electrically Short Dipoles, Electrically Long Dipoles, Apertures, Linear Arrays, Planar Arrays, and Pyramidal Arrays. The time-domain pulsed fields considered are primarily of a sinx/x form, however the techniques and applications can generally be applied to fields of other forms. Radiation and Reception System Responses are investigated and used to perform real-time signal processing for the purpose of predicting and correcting system induced effects. Additionally, time-domain pulse radiation beam steering and shaping techniques are derived, evaluated and presented. This study draws three distinct conclusions. (1) Using the concepts of effective height, a dipole-to-dipole system transfer function, and its inverse, is developed and effectively used. (2) Governing relationships defining general characteristics associated with pulse fields are developed and are reliable predictors. (3) Time-domain beam shaping of radiated pulse fields is possible.
