摘要

The purpose of this study was to compare the effects head position on motor output of forearm muscles between two groups of subjects: athletes and non-athletes. Simultaneous bilateral grip and surface EMG recordings from the flexor carpii radialus muscle were obtained from 30 subjects (15 athletes and 15 non-athletes) under three trial conditions; looking left, looking center, and looking right. Alpha was set apriori at 0.05. Repeat measure factorial ANOVA found no significant differences in grip strength relative to head position, regardless of athletic status. Analysis of EMG data, however, revealed that athletes produced significantly (p = 0.0003) higher mean and peak EMG measures compared to non-athletes, despite nonsignificant grip differences. Further study is necessary to evaluate appropriateness of group classification and muscle action to be measured.
