Implementation of a knowledge management system in a quality assurance environment.

Since the first cave paintings were crafted by our ancestors, humankind has seen the wisdom of passing knowledge and information to others. Knowledge Management is simply a contemporary method for transferring knowledge to those individuals who may need it. This project explores the implementation of a Knowledge Management system in a quality assurance environment. Commercial computer applications are evaluated with respect to the unique needs of the organization. In the current climate of information overload, Knowledge Management seeks to determine what transfer of knowledge will most benefit the individual and ultimately the organization. On determining the knowledge that is considered significant, the selected software package must lend itself to customization and ease of use. The software must additionally be accessible by the user regardless of computer platform. This project culminates in a pilot demonstration presented to senior management with the potential for complete implementation.
