Development of a rapid evaluation scheme for wetland hydrologic functions in South Africa.

摘要

This thesis describes the development, test application and refinement of an evaluation scheme designed to rapidly assess the hydrologic functions of South African wetlands. Through an evaluation of the literature on wetland hydrologic functions, field testing of a draft evaluation scheme in South Africa, and a review of the scheme by experts in the fields of wetland hydrology and resource management, the development of a finalized wetland evaluation scheme is explained. Contributions to the field of wetland management are discussed as well as the limitations of the research.
