During two holographic lidar research campaigns, HOLO-1 and HOLO-2, lidar backscatter data were collected from Goddard Space Flight Center's conically scanned holographic lidar, HARLIE, and from Utah State University's zenith-viewing lidar, AROL-2. During HOLO-2 a second holographic lidar from St. Anselm College, PHASERS, participated in the research. Throughout both campaigns, mostly continuous time-lapsed video images of the sky were recorded with an instrument dubbed SKYCAM. From the data collected during these two campaigns, measurements of the tropospheric wind vectors were made. These measurements were made with three methods that track clouds and aerosols. The results from these methods have been compared. The first method uses AROL-2 and SKYCAM information to produce wind vector measurements. Two techniques were developed using the HARLIE lidar. One uses a correlation method and the other a slope-matching method. Comparison between the methods shows the feasibility of a scanning lidar for wind vector measurements.
