摘要

The goal of this research effort is to develop an integrated system for project planning and project controls, which consists of data model and a process model. The integrated system is developed using the REA modeling technique, adopted from the Accounting Information System design. The targeted construction domain for this research is Construction Management (CM) environment with the focus on scheduling and project controls. For any CM firm, it is important to capture, store, and process the real time data. The quantity and quality of data to be captured varies as the project progresses. Thus there is need to have an information system that will capture accurate and timely information to help decision-making. The proposed integrated system is an application of information system for information management. The thesis methodology includes, developing REA models, the generalized framework for the computer implementation of REA models, developing an information system, and developing the proof of concept. The author believes that the proposed research will lead to a data model for standardizing the integration process between scheduling and project controls and will lay down a framework for developing an integrated system for the construction management domain. The proof of concept will analyze the application of the proposed integrated system in real life construction projects under the construction management domain.
