The multi-space transformation and interaction in the city: A case study of Tuen Mun New Town (Chinese text).

摘要

We are still faced with a lot of problems in the global urbanization, though scholars have established all kinds of theories in history, sociology, politics, geography, psychology, philosophy, urban planning, biology, engineering, science, and so on. The present dissertation constructs the theory of spatial interaction, which may supply a comprehensive and dynamic structure of thinking, to analyze cities in general after absorbing the researches of many scholars. Meanwhile, to provide the experience of history for new towns, especially new towns in Chinese Mainland, and fill in the gaps in urban researches, the dissertation offers a case study of Tuen Mun New Town of Hong Kong.; In the first chapter, the present writer discusses the evolution and the growing importance of the conception of space. Then the writer discusses the change, characteristics and function of several spaces, for example, physical space, social space, economic space, humanistic space and space of high technology. From the second chapter to the fifth chapter, the writer describes and analyzes the change and interaction of physical space, social space, economic space, humanistic space according to my visits, investigations and collection of information for three years in Tuen Mun New Town.; The main conclusions of the dissertation are as following: (1) Today the conditions and trends of human existence and development are more complicated and varied than before, especially in the area of urban transformation. (2) It is the trend of the future and also a worthwhile project that we analyze and seize all kinds of problems by using the conception of space and interaction. (3) The outer spaces, for example, Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland and the globe, are making the decisive influence upon Tuen Mun New Town. But it is still very important for us to design and promote a series of tactics in which all kinds of spaces are coordinated with each other for the development of our existing space and society in relation to the outer surroundings. Both Hong Kong and Tuen Mun New Town are facing the question of how to design and promote the long-term, middle-term and short-term plans.
