摘要

This thesis focuses on investigating advanced converter technologies with respect to applications in the area of wireless communications and their ability to become an integrated part of the digital radio design. For this purpose, experimental efforts concentrate on measuring and evaluating many key performance parameters of interest to the Communications Industry such as Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), Spurious-Free Dynamic Range (SFDR), Analog Input Bandwidth, Channels Cross-Talk Ratio etc. Performance evaluation is based on measurements with currently available digital radio converter technologies from reputable companies like Interactive Circuits and Systems Ltd. and ©Analog Devices.; In the final chapters, the experimental results are related to the receiver requirements of the Wireless Communications Industry. To be more specific, several wireless standards are looked at in scope and conclusions are made with respect to the experimentally derived converter performance parameters. The analysis is based on two types of commonly encountered receiver shortcomings—dynamic range and noise limitations. (Abstract shortened by UMI.)
