摘要

Chitosan, a main derivative of Chitin is a polysaccharide and waste product from the seafood processing industry, is an abundant natural resource. Chitosan has excellent property of adsorbing transition metal ions. Chitosan was obtained from crab shell used to study uptake of Lead, Cadmium and Nickel in aqueous solutions.;Advantages of chitosan in partially converted crab shell waste include availability, low cost, and high biocompatibility. In this work the characteristics of metal adsorption was studied by chitosan in the crab shell. The experiments were performed to investigate the effect of pH, metal ion concentration, the crab shell consumption, and the effect of various anions. The adsorption process was investigated by plotting isotherms. The observed results indicated that the metal uptake process by crab shells was rapid and successful.
