摘要

A quartz hodoscope is the heart of the trigger system in the Super High Momentum Spectrometer (SHMS). The detector has been constructed at North Carolina A&T State University. The SHMS spectrometer will play an important role in the 12- GeV physics program at Hall C of the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab). The quartz hodoscope is comprised of twenty-one fused silica bars; at each end, these bars are viewed by photomultiplier tubes. The quartz detector is mainly responsible for providing a clean detection of charged particles, precisely determining a particle's trajectory, and suppressing background noise. The performance and results of the quartz detector will be described and discussed in this research.
