An investigation into the behaviour of an airship fin was conducted. This required the construction of a model based on the American Airships Corporation A60+. Flow visualization and force measurement experiments were carried out. These revealed the existence of two flow regimes in which the fin operated. The first was a normal attached flow case, while the second was a vortex flow case. As a result of the vortex flow, the operating range of the fin extends past thirty degrees angle of attack. Also investigated was the behaviour of the centre of pressure, and how it varied with angle of attack and rudder position.
