摘要

The Offset Dikes of the Sudbury Igneous Complex contain significant deposits of Ni, Cu, and Co sulphide mineralization, and associated precious metals. The Copper Cliff Offset is the most heavily mineralized quartz diorite Offset dike, and contains approximately 20% of the total Ni sulphide production from the Sudbury Igneous Complex. Sulphide mineralization in the Copper Cliff Offset occurs as pipe-shaped orebodies commonly associated with primary discontinuities in the quartz diorite of the Offset or with swells in the width of the Offset Dike. In the Copper Cliff Offset, the 120, 850 and 810 orebodies are spatially related to discontinuous portions of the quartz diorite Offset Dike. The primary focus of this thesis is to document the geological and geochemical relationships within the offset discontinuity associated with the 850 orebody, as well as to investigate the geochemical relationships with the Copper Cliff Offset, and to look at the relationship between Offset Dikes and the Main Mass.
