Curriculum implementation of Mathematics 11 in British Columbia: A case study.

British Columbia faced a new curriculum as the Ministry of Education joined the Western Canadian Protocol Common Curriculum Framework. This study was conducted to resolve some of the issues occurring during a curriculum implementation and to determine the origin of the intended curriculum. A case study using my own classes was done to look into the issues I dealt with in implementing curriculum. Research was done to determine what factors affect both the intended and implemented curriculum.;Analysis of pertinent documentation along with my own personal experiences showed that though the current new curriculum was meant to be "despiralled" there were areas where it was not. There were errors in resource materials, and little help was offered by the Ministry of Education to aid in the implementation. The opinions and concerns of teachers on the BCAMT listserv and other teachers were noted as they pertained to implementing the new curriculum. Many teachers shared experiences teaching the new curriculum similar to my own. However, not all teachers chose to teach the course as outlined in the Integrated Resource Package. Issues ranged from resources, to particular types of questions in the textbook. (Abstract shortened by UMI.)
