Scope and method of study. Much insight can be gained from the study of behavior, motivation and organizational theory in assessing employee job satisfaction, pay satisfaction and commitment to an employer or job. Although the military has been paying Naval Aviators monetary bonuses for many years to retain their services, little to no research has addressed the pay satisfaction of Naval Aviators relative to job satisfaction and career intentions. This study researches those factors that contribute to job satisfaction and assesses the relationship of pay to job satisfaction and the career intentions of Naval Aviators.;Findings and conclusions. The study showed that Naval Aviator pay satisfaction is not a good predictor of job satisfaction (r = .125) or career intentions (r = .094). Naval Aviator's are no less satisfied with their pay or job than all Naval Officers. Findings indicate that monetary initiatives and bonuses may have little impact on the career intentions of Naval Aviators.
