Scope and method of study. (I) The purpose of this study was to determine potential differences in nitrogen use efficiencies in wheat under different production management programs. (II) The purpose of this study was to determine the response of switchgrass to high fertility levels and multiple cuttings.; Findings and conclusions. (I) Nitrogen use efficiency was increased by splitting N applications in at several times throughout the season and by employing sensor-based fertilizer recommendations. (II) Maximum yields were achieved with 448 kg N ha−1 rates and 3 harvests per season. Increased cutting frequency and higher N rates promoted increased uptake of N, P, K, and other macronutrients.
