In addition, Dr. Munsterberg's exploration of the relationship between experimental applied psychology and the law is addressed.;Both primary and secondary sources are used for this study. The primary sources include Munsterberg's published books and articles that explore the application of experimental psychology and criminal investigation. Secondary sources include books and articles written by different authors. Many of these writings were obtained from a collection reserved at Harvard University. Other secondary sources include biographies. One particular biography written by Munsterberg's daughter, Margaret, was invaluable in providing great insight and understanding of Dr. Munsterberg.;Dr. Munsterberg was born in Danzig, Germany on June 1, 1863. He attended the University of Leipzig, Germany, and earned a Ph.D. and M.D. In 1897 he was invited by American psychologist William James to join the Harvard faculty. Dr. Munsterberg accepted and traveled to America where he became a prominent figure at Harvard University. He remained at Harvard until his death in 1916.;His development of action theory was ground breaking and his observations regarding eyewitness testimony and misinformation suggestibility continues to be the basis of many debates.;Munsterberg's life spanned World War I. Supplementary readings on the war are discussed including the origins and the nations involved in the war. A discussion of how the war impacted Munsterberg is included and his conflict between his commitment to his adopted home, America, and his loyalty to his homeland, Germany, is also presented.
