摘要

The purpose of our research is to design a small size circularly polarized microstrip antenna, which could easily be used as the radiating element of a Ka band array antenna. This thesis presents the theoretical and experimental study of a new single feed circularly polarized microstrip radiator. The new radiator is obtained by etching two pairs of orthogonal slits at the edge of a circular microstrip radiator.; Various single feed circularly polarized microstrip radiators as well as the operating principle and basic characteristics of such radiators are briefly presented at the beginning of this thesis. Then, for a better understanding of the properties and the difficulties in connection with the design and practical realization of a single feed circularly polarized microstrip radiator, two types of radiator (from which we have actually designed our radiator) are presented in detail.; Afterwards, some theoretical aspects—necessary for the design of our radiator—are presented: the effective dielectric constant of a radiator with a composite substrate, the resonant frequency and the equivalent circuit of a circular microstrip radiator as well as the equivalent circuit of an aperture coupled to a microstrip line circular radiator.
