The investigation of the Biconical Transmission Lines (BTL) has been carried out in order to analyze the modal structure of electromagnetic waves, including the dominant, as well as the higher order modes. Based on the analysis of the boundary-value problem, an application to the calculations of the lumped equivalent parameters of the iris-type obstacles in BTL has been developed. Two major types of irises have been considered: zonal, and meridional. Experimental data, obtained from the HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator) simulations are compared with the analytical estimations. Several conclusions and the problems for the further researches have been set up.
