摘要

This research addressed the problem that the architecture-based simulation interoperability paradigm restricts the opportunities for simulation component reuse, which limits the ability of simulation professionals to collaborate across domains and cultures. The paradigm restricts interoperability by not supporting the cross-cultural reuse of simulations as components that can be used to compose distributed systems-of-systems that communicate and interoperate. The research produced a strategy to develop composable simulations using the innovative concept of object model awareness, the prerequisite state or condition that must be attained in order to empower a simulation's capability of reuse as a composable component across simulation domains and cultures. The research contribution brought about social change by enabling simulation professionals to eliminate the wasteful, expensive, and time-consuming practice of developing different simulation components with duplicate functionality for application in dissimilar simulation cultures, and to replace it with a development approach that encourages the open sharing of data, models, and simulations across cultures and domains.
