Creating mixed-mode applications using the PARSA(TM) software development environment.

The need for programming tools that can create mixed mode applications, where programs can exploit both shared and distributed memory processors, has increased greatly in recent years because of factors such as increasing processor performance and network speeds. However, several of the tools that are currently available have drawbacks associated with them, which can have a negative impact on the ability of a programmer to quickly and easily create mixed mode applications. The PARSA Software Development Environment 1 is proposed as a tool that is suitable for creating mixed mode applications. The abilities of PARSA are extended by the proposal of a new project type called the Multi-Threaded MPI (MTMPI) project type, which will allow for the creation of mixed mode applications.
