摘要

This thesis pursues an extensive study on the implementation of Power System Stabilizer (PSS) design/tuning to enhance the damping of power system oscillation. The objective of this project is to develop a toolbox that automates the PSS design/tuning process.; A PSS design/tuning program package was developed in this thesis as one of the basic analytical tools for investigating power system oscillations. The characteristics and mathematical model of oscillatory stability problems were described, and the basic concepts and design/tuning method of PSS were discussed to mitigate the power system oscillation. The proposed parameter setting method underlie this program was analyzed, along with illustration of performance evaluation of the designed/tuned PSS. Advantages of the developed toolbox was demonstrated by case study results, it was shown that the PSS design/tuning approach used in this project is straightforward and simple for industry applications, especially for large-scale power systems, and it is further proved that the design/tuning of PSS is a very attractive and effective solution to electromechanical oscillation-damping problems.
