Verfuehrbarkeit und Unverfuehrbarkeit der Helden in Friedrich Schillers Dramen 'Don Karlos' und 'Kabale und Liebe'.

My thesis is a study of seduction and non-seduction in Friedrich Schiller's Don Karlos (1787) and Kabale und Liebe (1784). I analyze the idea of seduction, and the characters of the seducers and of the seduced.;In chapter 1, I discuss how the notion “seduction” is defined in literary and non-literary dictionaries and then how it is defined in this thesis. The second and third chapters interpret the inner worlds of the main figures as well as the seduction procedures in Don Karlos and in Kabale und Liebe. I analyze in these two plays everything regarding the roles of the seducers, the seduced, the intention of the seducer and the result of the seduction. Also, I examine what makes Karlos and Ferdinand seduceable and discuss the reasons why Karlos and Ferdinand are not seduced by the charming seducer at the end of the seduction procedure.;The last chapter is devoted to Schiller's translation of the story of Madame Pommeraye, which Diderot originally wrote as part of a novel, but never published. My purpose is to present the complexity of the idea of seduction through this story. Then I discuss whether the revenge on the seducer in Don Karlos should be forgiven.
