Development of an electronic educational presentation to accompany the Bonehenge Project website: A component of the Cape Lookout Sperm Whale Project.

The Bonehenge project centers on the skeleton of a male adolescent sperm whale that stranded on the beach of Cape Lookout North Carolina in January of 2004. The goal of the project was to develop an educational component to accompany the Bonehenge.org website and exhibit. Bonehenge.org is an informational website about the North Carolina Maritime Museum's Bonehenge project. The museum is located in Beaufort, North Carolina. The skeleton is on display and can be viewed by the public.;The educational component is a digital slide show that includes general information about whales, information specifically about sperm whales, and information related to the Bonehenge whale specimen and display. Information is in the form of photos, drawings, facts, questions and their answers. There is a section that offers activity suggestions related to whales and the Bonehenge exhibit. Some activities focus on helping visitors to better understand the Bonehenge exhibit. Other activities can be done independent of the exhibit and are at the middle school level. There is also a questionnaire at the end of the slide show for viewers to comment on the usefulness of the presentation.
