Intergenerational Housing for the Shenzhen District of Guangdong, China: Reinterpreting the Traditional Hakka Dwelling.

摘要

As the world is becoming densely developed with modern architecture, there is a lack of cultural identity. This thesis project aims to explore how the cultural aspect of traditional architecture can be passed on and applied to contemporary building practice. The project takes the Hakka dwelling as a prototype to create a collective and communal center, by incorporating urban commercial public spaces with family's living quarters. This work explores how cultural heritage and modern architecture can be integrated for Shenzhen city.
