This project will aid nonprofit leaders with one of their greatest challenges: developing and keeping younger people involved in their organization. Traditional service organizations like Rotary and Kiwanis are losing members at an unprecedented rate. What changes can be made to make these organizations more appealing to Generation Xers and the Millenials (also known as Generation Y)?;Methodology includes a comparison between the Duluth Superior Eco Rotary Club and other Rotary clubs in its sixty-six club district Some of the key factors that will be discussed are statistics about attendance, gender, age and type of participation in service projects. Eco Rotary will also be compared to the national model for Rotary clubs and models employed by other service organizations.;Results show that changes in meeting time, price, length of meeting time, atmosphere, gender, age and type of activities can aid leaders in developing and keeping younger people more involved. The implications of the research are significant, because service organizations play a critical role in providing for needs not supplied governmental agencies. Sustainability of these nonprofits is crucial in being able to continue their important contributions locally, nationally and internationally.
