Multiprocessor systems have been developed to meet the ever-increasing demand for processing power. One such multiprocessor system is the Simultaneous Optical Multiprocessor Exchange Bus (SOME-Bus) architecture. In this architecture, each receiver can simultaneously receive and decode messages from all processors in the system. It is characterized by a low latency, high bandwidth fast interconnection network. For the processors to communicate efficiently, some protocol is needed. The protocol must take advantage of the underlying fast interconnect architecture. It should also allow processors to recover missing packets and be easily implementable in hardware, In this thesis, the design and analysis of a reliable multicast protocol is presented. The optimal configuration parameters for the protocol are obtained from the simulation results.
