Black voting patterns: A cross sectional study of four presidential years.

摘要

This thesis is a social-historical examination of the black voting behavior in the 2008, 2004, 2000, and 1996 Presidential election. It seeks to address the question what effects do rising expectation have on black voting behavior. Additionally, the research views black voting as a continuation of the Civil Rights Movement and is analyzed in both race and social movement theories. The study uses logistic regression to find the predicted probability rising income and a combination of demographic indicators (i.e. education, income, etc.) explain in black voting behavior. Finally, the study finds that rising explanations can account for some variance in black voting.
