Evangelical theological production in Hispanic Latin America between 1969 and 1979 (a reception history)

In the 1970s, evangelicals in Latin America experienced a process of maturation and indigenous definition in theology. North Americans and Latin Americans had different receptions of the Latin American evangelical theology in the 1970s. Different reception was due to diverse cultural, social, historical and theological factors. A process of maturation is clear when contrasting two different congresses on evangelism. The first---November of 1969---was organized and sponsored entirely by a North American association. Latin Americans held the second congress in 1979 with their own agenda and resources. In 1970 Latin American theologians formed the Fraternidad Teologica Latinoamericana to assume the task of producing theology from Latin America, by Latin Americans, and for Latin America.;For Latin American theologians, several factors spurred the process of Latin American evangelical theological production in the 1970s. They saw their theological endeavors as a calling to grow in healthy independence. However, such a process demanded adjustments from both sides, foreign agencies and locals. At the end, evangelicals in Latin America became more responsible for the spread of the gospel in their land.
